Xenical or orlistat, the generic name, is what we call a lipase inhibitor. When it comes to our digestion system, in order for our body to absorb nutrients from the food we eat, it needs to break food down into its smallest components.

A lipase inhibitor like Xenical does just as the name implies - it inhibits lipase, an enzyme that helps to break down fats. If fats are not broken down they are not absorbed, therefore reducing the number of calories our body takes up!
